I’m conflicted about her winning. It’s not that I don’t want her to win, it’s that she’d win for playing a type of role Hattie McDaniel played and got an award for 73 years ago.
73 years have passed and Black Women are still playing maids and jezebels in some shape or form.
But if she wins, I’ll be happy for her because regardless how I feel about The Help, Viola Davis definitely worked her ass off these past years and she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves.
YES! YES! A million times, yes! This is exactly how I feel. I hate the roll but love the actress. She is SO talented I just wish she was getting recognition for something else.
